Question:
When it is said that Nafsul Lawwamah is the ‘complaining’ Nafs, what exactly does this mean? Does it mean that it is the conscience instilled in man such that when he sins, this nafs makes him feel guilty, OR does complaining mean that this nafs is usually unhappy with the decree of Allah?
Answer:
It’s the first one. God has instilled an inner police inside us that inwardly alarms when a crime is committed. This alarm system is called ‘Nafsul Lawwamah’.
Ofcourse, if the alarm is ignored time and again, then it stops working.
