Question:

Is it permissible for me to keep pictures and photos at home and on my computer? The photos are of family and friends, eg. pictures of my child and parents. I have heard that angels do not enter the houses in which there are photos?

Answer:

There is no problem with keeping pictures or photos either in your house or online/computer. The only problem is with having statues of humans or animal faces in your house for worshipping purposes, if one does this, then angels will not enter their house.

In the days of the Holy Prophet (pbuh), the main purpose of drawing pictures or making statues was for people to worship them. Today the usage of pictures is different (identification and similar permissible purposes), hence there is no problem in it.
