As a 17 year old student, I wish to pursue a career in the sports of Snooker or Pool in which i have loved all my life. This sports involves participating and being involved in tournaments just like tennis and golf. And these tournaments contain prize money and income of some sort.

Is it permissible to pursue a career in such?

Answer:

Ayatollah Khamenei’s opinion: If it is played with betting, leads to moral or social corruptions, or entails association with a haram practice as per sharia (Islamic law), it is impermissible.

Ayatollah Sistani’s opinion: if it is played with betting then it’s haram and the obligatory precaution is not to play this game.
