Question:
Under what conditions can we do taqiyyah? I’m really confused about the limitations or boundaries involved in it.
Answer:
One can practice taqiyyah if one fears for their life or the life of their family, fears serious harm to themselves or their family, fears for their wealth (if their livelihood is threatened and they would be left needy) or their honour.
The limitations are that one cannot practice taqiyyah if it would harm the religion of Islam in general, or if it would lead to death or serious harm of another believer.
